The aims of the El Arbol Foundation are environmental protection, gender and employment in Nicaragua.
Who we are...
The "El Arbol" Foundation was founded on 26 September 1997 (KvK Hilversum nr. 195144) and has its seat in the little town of Heemskerk in The Netherlands.
The board of the Foundation consists of the following members:
- Ms. Saskia van Vuuren, chairwoman
- Ms. Annelies van Weezel, vice-chairwoman
- Mr. Louis van Vuuren, secretariate
- Ms. Manon van Tintelen
- Ms. Merel Knipping

Volunteers
The Foundation works with several volunteers to assist the board with meetings, mailings and sponsoring. Other volunteers help with sharing their knowledge. In The Netherlands and Nicaragua some 25 people work together with El Arbol. To name a few:

AQUEL ARBOL BONITO Y FRONDOSO
Oigo cantar el zanate
También el ruiseñor
Debajo del chilamate
Donde me diste tu amor.Caminando por la huerta
Sintiendo el ardiente sol
En la finca veo una rosa muerta
Por falta de agua y amor.Aquel árbol bonito y frondoso
Que daba sombra al caminante
Donde todo era muy hermoso
Lo cortaron... quien lo hizo que infamante.Del arrebol volaban bandadas de pajarillos
Quienes sus bonitos cantos dejaban oír
Que ingratitud, que desamor Dios mío
Así no debemos seguir.Por ese árbol yo pasaba,
Para llegar al rancho de Dona Cristina
Y desde ahí divisaba,
El jardín de la colina.También el hermoso y gran maizal
Que da esperanza y mucha alegría,
Como parte del recurso natural,
Y también de la Ecología.A todos en general
Yo les quiero sugerir
Que compartamos por igual
Lo que nos hace vivir.A toda nuestra buena gente
Yo les quiero recordar
Que cuidemos el Medio Ambiente,
Y que lo sepamos amar.Siembra un árbol y un jardín,
Ahí estas representado vos, yo y tu
Ahí esta también nuestro Cristo Jesús
Nuestra vida con su principio y su fin.
